It was a very good day…

A leisurely day spent with my boys is always a very good day. We wandered around the City Garden for a while… …and bonded with the sculptures. For the boys, this meant hugging, high-fiving and spooning. Plus a little bit of planking and mocking for good measure. We took in ice cream at this classic…

What do they call this?

Do they call this a doppelgänger? Seriously, could this cat look more like our Murphy?? And he’s just as lazy. Love, love this.

Take a moment…

… to cheer Chococat’s birthday! Many happy returns to my favorite Hello Kitty pal! (And special thanks to twitter, Facebook and Sanrio for this piece of uselessful trivia.) And if you don’t care for silent kitty cartoon friends, just take a moment to celebrate the arrival of the weekend. Pretty sure that we’ve all earned…

Endurance

A visit to the hospital with Drew yesterday brought an unexpected surprise: a small exhibit from one of my favorite artists installed in the lobby. I’ve collected several of his pieces over the years. His work is colorful, sentimental, whimsical, and downright funny. The hospital exhibit was part of a 365 project he took on….

Look what you can do…

…when yellow nature dust coats your car! You can make happy doodles because winter is finally outta here! (And you can pull the photo into an app on your phone and make it look really cool.) 80+ degrees today! (Okay, I know colder temps are headed our way, but I’m milking today and tomorrow for…

This and That

A few glimpses from an uneventful weekend. Ran through our downtown twice this weekend and had to give into photo temptation. First is was the lure of the hyacinth in the middle of a display at the Farmer’s Market. Then it was the whisper of these little guys peeking through a crack in a store…

Yep. I’m guilty.

A video sent to me by a sweet colleague and friend. It’s proved to be a lovely, valuable and necessary message that I’ve taken to heart.

Wandering…

…through the woods on a Wednesday. Little by little, green is peeking through.

Yesterday…

…I ran my first half marathon! Today, I took the day off and did a bunch of this. (Photo is a twitter find, no photo credit available. But this isn’t mine. Dog or photo.) Admittedly, I finished a little slower than I’d hoped, but I finished. I’m 42 years old, I’ve only been running for…

It’s an Easter Egg Hunt!

And for the first time in years, Tanner and I got to go! Every year our church hosts a huge Easter Egg Hunt and this year pastor asked me to take photographs. Lucky me, Tanner offered to take my backup camera and help out! It’s been so long since I’ve had little ones, I’d forgotten…

Beautiful

During my run tonight, I saw this plastic baggie tacked to a tree. Hrmph…never noticed this before. And I’ve run this route literally hundreds of times. Curious, I went off course to check it out. I thought maybe a good citizen had placed a lost item in the bag so an owner retracing his or…

Wait. What?

I just noticed that this blog post draft has been sitting around in cyber space quite a while. I confess I’ve not been on the ball lately. Just had to share a bumper sticker that my kids pointed out. (Of course I had to take us off course to follow this vehicle into a parking…

Snowy Sunday

Yesterday, I ran 12 miles and needed sunglasses and minimal layers. Today, I can’t leave the house. But I’ll say one thing about this ill-timed snow: it’s unbelievably beautiful.

Yeah…

…it’s Wednesday. This video pretty much sums it up.

Top O’ the Lou to Ya

Started the weekend with a couple of buddies at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Race, a five-mile run that boasts some 12,000 runners. Well…”runners” might be too strong of a term. Given the above photo, let’s try “participants“. And it was such a blast! This guy was one of many folks who dressed for the…

Last Stop: Smiles

On a whim, I took mom to the Seeds of Happiness studio on the last stop of our Day-cation. Made right here in Kirkwood, it’s one of my favorite things. So it was fun to get to show it to mom. The folks were so sweet and gave us a tour and told us the…

Next Stop: the Garden

After spending the morning with butterflies, mom and I headed to the Botanical Garden for the Orchid Show. Shapes, colors, sizes, patterns…no two were alike. These were not your Mother’s Day corsage. In addition to the orchids, we enjoyed lunch and a walk around the grounds. Here’s mom at the Japanese Garden, perfecting the art…
