“We’ve been infected with the idea that love is an emotion only felt between two people.
But love is universal.
A contagious force.
To offer money to a homeless person is to love.
To save a worm from the sun is love.
To smile at a stranger is love.
To be grateful, to be hopeful, to be brave, to be forgiving, to be proud, is to love.” – unknown
Unless I’ve miscounted (which isn’t unheard of), today is day thirty-one and the challenge has been fulfilled. And on this final day, upon reading the above quote, I realized something. The original challenge was this:
“For the next 31 days, allow yourself to be surprised by joy. Find one tiny thing that catches you by surprise in its delightfulness or its beauty.”
But when I really think about it, this has also been a challenge to love. Because to be present to the world’s beauty is to love. To fully appreciate life’s blessings is to love. To express gratitude is to love. To share your joy with others is to love.
And this realization was today’s final tiny thing that caught me totally by surprise in its delightfulness.
