I’m continuing to make my way through the “7 ways to be more kind to your mind” exercise/self-reflections that I found on Instagram from @laurajaneillustrations. Here’s the thought/action for Tuesday:
“Choose to forgive yourself for still being in the “process.” Instead of saying “I can’t do this,” remind yourself that you are still learning, still growing, still capable of being able to do it one day. Growth is a process, it takes time.”
I really liked this. I think it is a thoughtful, lovely way of saying that we are a work in progress, so we should be more patient with ourselves. Come to think of it, it’s probably good to remember that everybody is a work in progress, so we should be patient with others as well. Some of us are learning different things at different times, but really, we’re all just trying to find our way and we shouldn’t give up — on ourselves or each other.
Now, in other/unrelated news…if we can take a sharp turn and find our way back to the shallow end of today’s events pool, may I please take a moment to share my new running shoes? They make me so much happier than they should.
Brooks got me again. I have shamrock sneaks for St. Pat’s, ugly Christmas sweater sneaks for the holidays, New York skyline sneaks for my NYC half marathon training…and now I’m ready to Turkey Trot.
I may be a work in progress, but I never said I had depth.
