Research suggests that having cut flowers and plants in your house has positive health benefits! (Now really, are we surprised?)
The American Society for Horticulture Science evaluated surgical patients and the therapeutic influence plants can have. According to the study, patients exposed to flowers had:
- lower blood pressure and heart rate
- lower ratings of pain, anxiety and fatigue
- more positive feelings and higher satisfaction with their rooms
Fresh flowers have been a must in my house for quite some time now. Even during quarantine, I’ve had flowers delivered to my house a few times (currently bundle shown above). And now, I’ve even been working on sunflower starter plants, which is turning into a whole new level of magic.
When I first started keeping flowers in the house it was a little luxury — what I would call “self-care.” But now, I honestly believe flowers and plants improve the quality of life and can’t imagine not having them around.
