I had today off, so this morning I decided to take a walk through Laumeier Sculpture Park.
It was brisk, beautiful and unexpectedly profound.
As I was heading back to my car, I noticed two elderly gentlemen chatting on a bench under a maple tree, bright yellow leaves casually dropping around them in the breeze. Their big black Labrador retriever leaned into their legs, enjoying the sunshine. We exchanged good mornings and I said, “It’s a little chilly, but it’s a beautiful day!” One of the men smiled at me and replied, “Every day is a beautiful day.”
His words made me briefly stop in my tracks and smile. Point well taken, good sir.
I stand corrected — and grateful for the reminder.
