Distracted Runner: Frozen Edition

“When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels.”

Running lately has been cold. No way around it. But there are two choices: retreat to the gym’s treadmill or work with Old Man Winter. I’ve done the latter, and he seems to appreciate it.

And a lot of folks in the community seem to have made this choice, too. The frozen lake in our local park has hosted so many hockey games and ice skaters in the past few days. I’ve never seen this here before. But I love it. I had to stop and admire the hubbub during yesterday’s run. This little guy told his mom that, “This is just like Peanuts!”

I didn’t step on the ice, but I took a close look at the surface. It was fascinating. It’s like little bubbles were frozen in time.

The cold temperatures make it hard to get out the door, but once I’m out, it sure is fun.
