“September days are here, with summer’s best of weather and autumn’s best of cheer.” – Helen Hunt Jackson, American author and poet
Best of weather indeed.
Running lately has been an absolute pleasure. It’s cool enough to be comfortable, but light enough to still see the gorgeousness along the way.
Roses are still blooming in the park.
I can catch the sunset towards the end of my runs if I plan just right.
Butterflies are busy and digging the flowers at the farmer’s market.
Basically, I find that running is forever showing me the love.
Along today’s run, I witnessed something in which I couldn’t get a photo. My route took me by the high school ball fields where a dad and his young son were there for batting practice by themselves. I ran by just in time to see their reactions when the boy connected and launched a ball through the air and nailed the scoreboard atop the fence in the outfield. I don’t know if it’s because I’m a former athlete, coach’s kid, or sports parent, but I have never wanted to high-five two strangers so badly in my life. It was pure joy. I smiled the rest of my route.
I’m looking forward to taking full advantage of fall days and whatever light we have left this year.
