Snowy Sunday

Yesterday, I ran 12 miles and needed sunglasses and minimal layers. Today, I can’t leave the house. But I’ll say one thing about this ill-timed snow: it’s unbelievably beautiful.

Yeah…

…it’s Wednesday. This video pretty much sums it up.

Last Stop: Smiles

On a whim, I took mom to the Seeds of Happiness studio on the last stop of our Day-cation. Made right here in Kirkwood, it’s one of my favorite things. So it was fun to get to show it to mom. The folks were so sweet and gave us a tour and told us the…

Next Stop: the Garden

After spending the morning with butterflies, mom and I headed to the Botanical Garden for the Orchid Show. Shapes, colors, sizes, patterns…no two were alike. These were not your Mother’s Day corsage. In addition to the orchids, we enjoyed lunch and a walk around the grounds. Here’s mom at the Japanese Garden, perfecting the art…

Happiness is Like a Butterfly…

…the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder. (Thoreau) Or, if I may amend, on the flower above your head. Or on your pants leg. There was lots of butterfly happiness happening yesterday when…

Up

As I rummaged through my iPhone photo library this morning, I realized something. Apparently I love clouds. And I look at the sky. A lot.

Life Lately…

…has been really busy…and a little bit snowy. (In case you can’t tell, in the photo below is a weird iron gated wall that is overgrown with ivy. I have no idea what’s behind all of it; it’s just a cool looking mystery.) But this next photo subject is a little more obvious. Swoon. I…

Because…

…every Sunday should start with a video of a baby sloth. I want Matty to give me a flower, too.

Snow Day

Backyard Buddha is buried…and we are snowed in today. Since the kids started college, we haven’t had a snow day together. I have to tell you, I love it. I didn’t even care that the sleet sounded like hail pelting the windows. I was camped on my couch, wearing flannel, wrapped in fleece, working from…

There’s love…and then there’s LOVE

Guess it would’ve been more timely to post this on Valentine’s Day, but my Nature’s Love Notes photos were recently published in a friend’s publication. To check it out, click here. I love this magazine. It’s hard to find a motivation more noble than making the world a better place. That’s nature love. But then,…

Because…

…everyone needs a little help getting through a Wednesday. Or a video of big puppy helping little puppy on a Wednesday.

Shut Up and Just Run

Scenes from a green house that was adjacent to a restaurant that I got to visit today. Olive the Kitty was friendlier than she looks. The flowers…the gorgeous light…shades of green…kitty purrs…breakfast this morning was a much needed break from the norm. And I had a different break from the norm this evening as well….

Frosty Flashbacks

I always hated that greenhouse scene in Frosty the Snowman. This is my “Karen” moment from this morning.

Pure Awesomeness

This video is unquestionably one of the coolest things I have ever seen. And not just because it features Hello Kitty. (But of course, that didn’t hurt.)

Because…

…every Thursday needs to begin with a pink penguin sugar cookie.

Little Amusements

Yes, my college-aged sons picked up a girl’s Happy Meal in order to bring a Hello Kitty home to their mom. I love my kids. Thanks to the movie Stranger Than Fiction, I kept waiting to hear some sort of Emma Thompson narrative while peering at this guitar display in a music store window. I…
