“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” – G.K. Chesterton
In recent years I have found that negativity and gratitude cannot co-exist in the same headspace; gratitude is simply too powerful. And it is absolutely our choice to make every single day — whatever occupies the real estate between our ears and in our hearts is totally up to us. So when I recently stumbled across a “gratitude scavenger hunt” on Facebook, I thought maybe it could be put to daily use. So I’m sharing below.
For the purpose of this post, I’m tapping into photos and happenings from the past week or so.
1.) Find something that makes you happy.
Finnegan. My answer today and every day.

2.) Find something to give someone else to make them smile.
My answer for today doesn’t have a photo. But I gave Halloween cookies to our dog groomer
and her co-workers today.
3.) Find one thing that you love to smell.
Also no photo with this one. I bought a seasonal Christmas candle today called “Merry Berry”
and I am so excited to light it up. I have been looking forward to this since I burned my last one
last year.
4.). Find one thing you enjoy looking at.
My answer: Sunrise.

5.) Find something that is your favorite color.
I don’t really have a favorite color, but for today, my favorite color is October.

6.) Find something you are thankful for in nature.
My answer is two-fold for this one: sunrises (again) and wildlife.

7.) Find something that you can use to make a gift for someone.
This is the toughest one in the bunch, but also one of the most valuable. I’m going to say
stones that can be painted.
8.) Find something that is useful for you.
My answer? A gratitude scavenger hunt list.
