Yes, girl

“If I could tell younger me one thing, I think it would be this: You don’t have to be constantly striving. Measuring. Yardsticking. Trying. You can grow, but you can also rest. You can aspire, but you can also just be.” – Erica Layne

This afternoon, I noticed a young lady in a parking lot as she caught a glimpse of her reflection in a car window. She said – out loud – to herself, “Girl, you are looking SNATCHED!!” I don’t know exactly what that means, but it was clear that she was pleased with what she saw. And it was darling. I wanted so badly to say to her, “Heck yeah, you are, girl! You just go on now with your bad self!!” I actually wish I had a fraction of her satisfaction with herself. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that everyone deserves to be their own greatest cheerleader from time to time. And everyone deserves to just rest right where they are – as they are – and feel good about it.

Day nineteen.
