This video actually made me cry.
I’ve always found it fascinating that sparrows are referenced a few times in the Bible — they seem to be important to God. “Not one falls from the sky without your Father’s knowledge,” Matthew 10:29 says.
This verse pops into my head more often than most, probably because I watch birds so often. Birds completely rely on the earth for everything from their food to their nest fixings. I always marvel at how tiny and fragile they are, yet God seems to provide everything they need.
This video was like seeing that verse unfold. This little sparrow had gotten himself frozen to a fence (story here) and he was given the help he needed. It was probably a little scary for him, he didn’t know what was going on, but he was stuck and didn’t have much of a choice…and he was rescued.
But Matthew goes on to say, “Do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
With love like that, I don’t need to be worth more than many sparrows; I just need to be worth as much as one. That’s more than enough.
