Much of this afternoon was spent making peppermint bark. Typically, it’s one of the easiest things to make. But I had a tough time because I switched the type of chocolate I used. I had to pitch out three batches. Honestly, I’m not blaming the chocolate. I think it’s just me. The kitchen and I simply do not go together. But I think I made enough to be able to give away.
I picked up the chocolate from Michael’s, my home away from home as of late. While I was there, I saw this poor guy standing in the Christmas ribbon aisle. He looked lost and completely bewildered. He had his cell phone wedged in the crook of his neck while he picked up various spools of ribbon and tried to explain what he was looking at to the person on the other end of the line (presumably his wife). “This one has wires in it. Is it supposed to have wires in it? What do you mean what color red is it? It’s red red.” Poor schmuck — no way was he gonna get this one right. And he was trying so hard. Seriously, what woman sends her man to a craft store to pick out holiday ribbon? Take that back — I’ve had a man or two in my life who not only could have been trusted with such a task, they would’ve come back with something wonderful that I hadn’t thought of. However, these men didn’t wear their ball caps backwards, dress in multiple layers of Notre Dame football gear and give the general impression that they are still capable of crushing a beer can on their foreheads at sporting events. She’d have been better off sending him to the drug store for feminine products.

Laura, your trip to Michaels is cracking me up! I love peppermint bark and it's something I've never tried to make. Looks wonderful!

You would've laughed so hard. This guy was so clueless. But the peppermint bark is really easy — and fast (normally).
