“People call what happens at midlife ‘a crisis,’ but it’s not. It’s an unraveling — a time when you feel a desperate pull to live the life you want to live, not the one you’re ‘supposed’ to live. The unraveling is a time when you are challenged to let go of who you think you are supposed to be and to embrace who you are.” — Brené Brown
Lately I’ve been feeling this strange push/pull described above. The only thing I would add to the unraveling is, when you let go of who you think you are supposed to be, you need to also let go of and forgive yourself for who you used to be. Because you needed to be naive. And stupid. And misguided. And you needed your mistakes. Otherwise you wouldn’t have received the course-corrections that brought you here. And that’s a good thing.
Anyway, I thought these photos — the result of playing with the Hipstamatic for a bit over the weekend — was an appropriate illustration of the strange space that lives between the past and the future.

How I agree with your statement! A much-needed post for many of us. The photos are lovely as well!
