Write about someplace you’ve been that you’re grateful for.
The fifth of 15 gratitude journal prompts is taking me to….my Grampa’s house during Christmas when I was a child. The little chapel pictured above is well over 100 years old, made by my Grampa as a tribute to the first little church he attended with my grandma. Every Christmas we’d make the drive to Grampa’s house and every year this little scene was displayed with care. My sister did a little digging and we figure that the choir children candles were made in the 1940s. This set (minus the trees — I added those in recent years) is synonymous with my childhood Christmases.
And somehow it belongs to me now. I set it out this evening and was flooded with so many memories along the way. It made me so grateful and teary all at once — with an intensity unlike just about anything else I own. This might not look like much to anyone not related to me, but this little chapel is the very definition of priceless to me.
I love this so much. What a treasure you have!
