Catching up

Write about a happy memory.

I’m a little behind on my gratitude journal prompts, but this is a fun one. This time of year has a disproportionate number of happy memories compared to other months, thanks in no small part to the holidays. From my Grampa’s red Christmas sweater to my young sons fighting over a Little Tikes car to Christmas in Florida to accommodate my adult son’s work schedule, I have no shortage of answers to that prompt.

But rather than wade through holidays past and try to narrow it down, I think I’ll just go back to this weekend and highlight a simple walk through the sculpture park with my favorite fur friend. Finn’s reaction to this ginormous deer sculpture is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time – and the photo tells the story really well. What. The. Heck. Is. This??

Then there’s a different story told below, both heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once. And altogether true. In that moment, I was reminded that this sweet little face was indeed my only reason for a walk.

Holiday memories are precious, but sometimes the littlest things in our normal routines can make the happiest memories.
