“Simple pleasures are the last healthy refuge in a complex world.” – Oscar Wilde
So yesterday I started a series of “15 gratitude journal prompts” — and prompt number two is “What’s a simple pleasure that you’re grateful for?”
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that simple pleasures make up 95% of my gratitude lists every day. I don’t even know where to begin with this one; I am all about simple pleasures in life:
Steaming hot chai latte.
Spicy scented candles.

Colorful sneakers.
Warm sunshine and golden light that just seems to hit differently in the fall.

The way nature always finds a way to make its own art in humankind’s creations.
My dog’s sleepy snores and sighs of contentment.

Telling someone that you’re happy to see them and really meaning it.
The anticipation of cracking open a new book.

Sherpa blankets.
Owls chattering in the distance in the middle of the night.

Houses with Christmas wreaths hanging perfectly symmetrical in each window.
Really good skin cream.
So I guess the question isn’t “where do I start?” Rather, it’s “where do I stop?”
