He said, “Above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” – Roald Dahl
Even with limited hours of daylight, running continues to give me some special little sightings.
With gray skies and a hibernating winter landscape, any hint of color immediately catch my attention. So when I noticed little pops of red in a nearby stream, I had to wander over. Someone seemed to have lost their bouquet in the park. This is just a sampling of the scattered blooms.
Then there’s this little gem. I was so pleased to see these little ones pushing through today. This yard has been covered in crocus in years past, but the house was torn down this winter to make way for an oversized house that barely fits on the lot. They ripped up the yard in the process, so I thought my days of seeing these little blooms was over. I’m so happy to be wrong.
And then there’s this weirdness. I spotted this guy during a night run by the local high school football stadium. I guess a student dropped an art project? Whatever it is, this is one of my more unusual running finds.
Winter running still isn’t my favorite, but I’m grateful for everything I’m still lucky enough to see.
