Well, aren’t you just a dapper little fella?
Every Sunday from December through the end of February, if it’s under 50 degrees, our zoo brings out a few penguins for a little parade. And for the first time since moving here years ago, we actually went to join the parade route and witness it for ourselves.
Can you believe how close these guys get? They’re curious, friendly, and hilarious.
We were instructed ahead of time that the penguins will approach us and that we should place our hands behind our backs. Amazingly enough, everyone behaved themselves and complied.
And sure enough, the penguins approached a lot of people.
I had to include this photo as a sign of our times.
Yes, those were two elementary school-aged kids taking photos with smart phones.
(Can I have a hat like that…?)
I’m probably just a little biased, but I think that our zoo and its staff are the best anywhere.
This was so. much. fun.
I’m sorry we waited so long to go. But we will be going back.
