John Lennon said that?

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” I’d heard that quote before, but didn’t realize that it came from John Lennon. Hmph. Learn something new every day.
Anyhoo, I found myself thinking of that quote this morning when I opened the curtains and saw the view from our hotel room (we were in KC for the MU vs. Georgetown basketball game).
Oh wow. Hallmark Cards. Growing up, I knew that I wanted to: work for Hallmark as an artist, live in an apartment in Kansas City, own two pugs, never get married, never have kids.
That was my plan.

Then life happened.

It’s weird how things that seemed to “sidetrack” me from the “plan” unfolded into a totally different life. But what a great life. Different? Sure. And thank God. Regrets? None that I couldn’t try to remedy. Take Hallmark, for example. Maybe I could still work for them one of these days? But maybe I shouldn’t plan on it. Maybe I should try to make it a sidetrack so it might actually happen.

What a fun trip with the kids. Saw lots of fun things on the way home. These birds reminded me of that hilarious little Pixar short “For the Birds.”

And then we have the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Yes, I fear him.
But what a great subject for a kids’ book.
