For Whatever Reason

Today was an odd and error-prone day of cleaning, shopping and decorating. While I was cleaning the glass patio doors from the outside, somehow the security bar for the door slipped back into place and locked me out of the house. So I had to get the spare key and let myself back in through the front door. A while later, I was trying to hang wreaths outside our second floor windows. I have tilt-in windows, so this is done from inside the house. Naturally I dropped one of the fully-decorated wreaths out the window and it fell to the ground. And a little while after that, I heard a strange noise out front. When I went outside and looked up, one of the wreath hooks had dislodged and the wreath was dangling down the front of the house by an extension cord. But for all of the day’s oddities and my sore hands, I’ve felt what I can only describe as pure joy. I have no idea why. I also have no idea why I decided to buy this amaryllis bulb for the holidays. I’ve never done this before, so I hope it works.
