Not too long ago, Drew mentioned that he wanted to “make a big deal” out of Christmas this year. The child clearly didn’t realize the can of worms he was opening with that declaration. But I’ve been making plans for the holidays ever since. Thanks to a long drive to Wichita for a weekend tennis tournament, I had a lot of time to think about the possibilities. One of the plans involves two of these little elves. More details later, but I’m hoping that the kids find this to be a fun surprise. We’ve already established two holiday sub-committees. Drew is the holiday movie event chair, while Tanner is the drive around to see Christmas lights chair. Tree decorating, cookie baking, outdoor light hanging… I am so excited. And I was tickled to see that I’m not the only one looking forward to the holidays. One of my favorite friends and bloggers found some super cute stockings for her and her husband.
Here are some fun things that will hold us over until the Christmas holidays begin:
– Kids’ tournaments in two different parts of Kansas this weekend. All three of us have packed MU shirts to endear ourselves to the locals.
– Halloween.
– Elections that will be over soon and will free us from these horrible political ads for a while.
– Drew’s birthday. 18 years old.
– Thanksgiving. Got my menu planned out already.
– MU vs Georgetown basketball in Kansas City.
– Christmas lights on the Plaza
(Watching the World Series on the hotel television and there’s a dude in the crowd by home plate wearing an enormous panda head. I don’t care know much about baseball, but is it the San Francisco Giant Pandas? Otherwise, I’m not getting it.)
