We’ve returned from the hottest tennis climate we’ve experienced — a whopping 109 degrees. The above photo really sums up the trip. Everything about Tulsa was dry, hot, and stressed. One of the tournament officials told me that they’d had a guy come out to gauge the temperature of the court and found that the court itself was 156 degrees. Yet these kids hung in there every day for hours at a time, fighting, scrapping, enduring. And not just my kids — all of them. It was gutsy and altogether awesome.
Some silly graffiti across the street from our hotel made for fun photos. We ducked into a Barnes & Noble to escape the heat between matches and I bought this fantastic book of graffiti art. Fun, bizarre, inspired. I’ve always found graffiti fascinating, but these artists bring graffiti to a whole new level.
