Another trip to the hospital today, this time for an MRI and a CT. Two down, one to go in two weeks. This was one of the lengthier appointments, so I had time to wander around the hospital and gift shop. One of the great things about a pediatric hospital is the use of color. No puke green to be found. It’s alive with happy designs and whimsy, while the gift shop is overflowing with toys and balloons. I’ve got to hand it to them — they’ve created an environment that works really hard to make you forget that it’s the last place you want to be. (Lower right: one of two pairs of Drew’s Sperry Topsiders. I cannot believe those things are still in style. They were around when I was a kid!) These appointments always wipe us out. As I was contemplating going to bed before 8:00 on a Friday night, I started thinking about what we can look forward to besides his next MRI. Somehow I wasn’t as tired. I realized that we have some fun stuff coming up, both big and small:
- Finally going to watch 500 Days of Summer tonight (after we watch Saint Ralph – an all time fave).
- Going with Tanner to his History Night on Tuesday to see the display we’ll finish this weekend.
- Going to see B.B. King next Thursday with the boys.
- I’m actually going to do it: three weeks from today, I’m headed to New York for the Tim Burton exhibit. A birthday gift to myself. This review took care of any buyer’s remorse.
- Right after I get back, the boys’ high school tennis season begins. Awesome.

Laura, I am so excited for you getting to go see the Tim Burton exhibit! That is so cool!! Are you going with anyone? Let me know what you think about 500 Days of Summer…it was on my top 5 list for the year. Lots of cool stuff coming up for you.

Thanks, Amy!! I'm so excited. It's going to be a really quick trip, so I figured I'd go by myself. I just couldn't imagine missing this. 🙂
