It started with bananas that I picked up at the store today. I usually don’t notice the stickers — Chiquita lady, Dole symbol-thing, whatever. But when I put this particular bunch on the kitchen counter, I saw this weird sticker. I know these are from Chiquita because the lady sticker is also there. But what the heck is this? Normally this wouldn’t be newsworthy and I would be so embarrassed to admit publicly that I gave this a second thought*, but I had to put this out there. So I’m a big enough geek that I found Chiquita’s website to see what’s going on. Seriously, LOOK at this site. I went from wondering why I had a robot sticker on my banana (isn’t that what it is?) to wondering who on our planet has enough time to register for a membership on a banana company’s website in order to submit their “banana songs” and “banana photos**.” Not to mention how much I’m wondering what kind of budget Chiquita’s marketing department has to kick around.

*a google search showed that several folks have asked the same question. So I’m not a total geek. Wish I would have gotten the sticker that said “Peel. Place on forehead. Smile.” So much better than the robot.
**although I have to admit that the photo of the baby with a sticker on its forehead was pretty cute.
