For as long as I can remember, we’ve had a picnic-type basket that sits on the floor by our couch. Because it’s really more for decoration, I haven’t looked at its contents in years. In fact, I’d almost forgotten that it was there. Today I was looking for a place to store my knitting stuff and the basket seemed like a good place. But when I went to clean it out, I felt like I’d opened a time capsule. It was a treasure trove of old magazines, papers and photos. But this set of photos was the biggest jackpot. I have no idea how old the kids were in these pictures. These were taken on a trip to an apple orchard with my mom, dad and sister many, many years ago.
They had that little boy cuteness going on and I’m still smiling about it. But as a result of these photos, I have to concede that it is a very good thing that I am no longer their barber. We got away with it back then, but I’m guessing that Great Clips is so much better for their social lives now that they are teenagers.
While I remembered the trip to the orchard, I’d forgotten all about our little companions. It seemed that an Amish family owned the orchard and two of their children wanted to keep us company as we wandered through the apple trees. And they loved to have their photos taken. Especially the little girl. They were darling.
This probably sounds silly, but I decided to find another place to stow the yarn. I took the photos out long enough to scan them (and kept the negatives to make better prints), but I left the basket and its contents the way that I found it.

It doesn't sound silly at all to put things back where you found them. I've been known to find an old movie ticket in a jacket pocket and if it brings up particularly good memories, I may put it back so I can find it again another time. 🙂
