Took a few photos at lunch. But I probably should have gone to the grocery store at lunch instead of taking pictures. I went to the store after work and saw all kinds of weirdness. Weirdness that I never see during the lunch hour. I’m still laughing about some of it. A lady in the in front of me in the checkout line bought six pints of ice cream and a six-pack of beer. I can only assume how her day went. One not-so-funny lady paid for her groceries with food stamps, but then bought her cigarettes with cash.

I worked at a grocery store in high school and college and still consider to be one of the funnest jobs I have ever had but I did see a lot of annoying stuff, too. Now food stamps are used like a debit card so you don't get change back, right? Back in the day when they were like bills and you'd get cash back, we would have people come in constantly and buy a 3 cent piece of gum to get .97 cents back and put towards cigarettes, lottery tickets, etc.

Omigosh – you must have some stories to tell! Wow! It is a debit card now, but this woman was prepared with her cash. I understand that everyone needs a little help at some time, but I couldn't help but think that, in addition to paying for her food, we'll be paying her health care bills down the road. Just seemed wrong.
