I recently bought a small digital camera that I am really loving. It’s light, plastic and toy-like, producing retro-looking images. But it’s not necessarily the photos that have me smitten: it’s the experience.

Although this camera is digital, there’s no image playback feature. Yesterday I took it along for a walk in the park and came home with 15 photos on the camera. But I had no idea how any of them had turned out! I could not wait to connect it to my computer to see what I had.

In a world revolving around immediate gratification, the anticipation and patience this required is not something I’m used to. And it was so much FUN. This possessed all the unknowns of having film produced but in a much more environmentally friendly way.

I also loved the results.

I have a feeling I will be putting this little camera to good use for quite a while.
