Cheerful tulips in my neighbor’s flower bed kindly served as reminders as to why I was getting grimy in my own yard today. I’m determined to grow something beautiful this year. So I spent the afternoon weeding, pruning, and readying the yard for planting.

And this morning was spent giving my kids’ bathroom a facelift and a cleaning like it’s never had. I even uninstalled an old shelf and installed a new one! I’m always so proud when I get some mileage out of my drill. Girl power, baby! But here’s the kicker. After registering one of my kids for college yesterday and driving the other one to take the ACT, guess what theme they chose for their new shower curtain and towels? Toy Story. Yes, both of my kids will be voting in the next presidential election and their bathroom is a shrine to Pixar. Then again, their mother wears one of several Hello Kitty watches around her wrist every day. Guess fruit hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
