If the neighbors ask why we still have our Christmas decorations up outside, I’m going to point to our amaryllis. Apparently it didn’t get the “hey, the holidays are over” memo either. I’ve done absolutely nothing to encourage this, but look who’s sprouted greens again. Seriously — I haven’t even watered this poor thing in weeks. Then *voila* it’s showing signs of life. I love it. 

Christmas isn’t the only holiday that I’m dragging out. Today is Australia Day, not yesterday. My wishes were extended prematurely because I cannot get used to the time difference of the live Australian Open coverage. They’re 16 hours ahead of us. So when the commentators were celebrating Australia Day there while we were watching the Open here in the States yesterday, they were a day ahead. So confusing. But here’s to Australia, here’s to the Open, and here’s hoping that Federer can pull off another Slam.
