Winter Colours

A blog called Poppytalk is a happy, creative oasis on the web and it is one of my absolute favorite places to visit. I love their myriad of funky do-it-yourself projects, gorgeous photos and artful features. And this week they have a neat little project going that has made me so happy. They call it “Winter Colours Week 2011.” They’ve started a flickr pool with a color theme for every day of the week. Yesterday was red, but I learned about it too late to submit anything. Today’s color was white. I can’t begin to tell you what a ball I had rummaging through my flickr photos to find a few things to add to their pool. (Anyone can submit photos to the pool — they’re sweet that way.) I only submitted one of the photos in the above collage (frosty branches, upper right corner) to the pool, along with two or three more (I have white cats – hullo!). But these were some of the photos that fit the “white” theme that I’ve taken in the past and was particularly happy to see today. Tomorrow’s pool includes shades of blue, so I get to do it all over again. I’d forgotten about all of the photos I have out there on flickr — New York, Upper Peninsula, Chicago, Taum Sauk Mountains, Elephant Rocks, baby birds… lots of memories and so much beauty.
