Since my kids don’t read my blog, I’m very comfortable dropping a little hint about one of their Christmas gifts in this post. I had it delivered to my office since its recipient gets home before I do and has NO idea that it’s coming. It arrived today — and the above logo was on the box. Even the UPS guy thought it was cool. I did a happy dance and grinned from ear-to-ear all afternoon at the thought of how thrilled my boy is going to be on Christmas morning. I could hardly contain myself.
Then I got home and read this article about the tone of children’s letters to Santa Claus this year.
Oh, wow. Apparently kids have different priorities this year. A little girl asked for a coat for her mother and nothing for herself. Another little girl told Santa that she’s “been a very good girl this year” in the hopes of convincing him to bring her… a new coat and boots. My heart broke with this harsh reminder that so many people are hurting right now. At the same time, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. For whatever reason, God has chosen to be so generous with my little family. We don’t have a lot of excess, but we do have everything that we need. And in this day and age, that’s such a blessing.

I had similar thoughts while working at the food bank today. But I am VERY excited about your UPS package. AWESOME!!!!
