To get the holidays started, the kids and I decided to adopt an animal from Farm Sanctuary. It’s an amazing cause that gives love, care and sanctuary to abused and neglected farm animals. Since we were adopting as a family, we used consensus to pick our animal. We could choose between a chicken, rabbit, goose, duck, turkey, goat, sheep, pig and cow. I was going for either the turkey (to alleviate my Thanksgiving guilt) or a sheep (the only animal option that’s part of the nativity). But the people have spoken and today we became the proud adopters of a …. pig. *sigh* Not quite what I had in mind, but the kids are thrilled. I think they were swayed by the movie Babe. And Drew has now sworn off pork. So we’re headed in the right direction. (Above darling image is from bluebison.net.)
Today I got my BeadforLife party inventory in the mail! Yay! SO excited — and so happy that my office is letting me do this again. Even if I am hosting it during yet another overly complicated cookie crawl. True to form, the exchange of home baked goodness isn’t enough for us. We’ve gotta work for it. The hazard of working for a place whose foundation is process improvement, I suppose.
