Uh oh… I read today that Zoo Atlanta is on panda birth watch. And the little pink size-of-a-stick-of-butter cubby should be here in a week or two. This makes baby #3 for Lun Lun and Yang Yang. And this makes for the fourth or fifth time a zoo panda cam will threaten to render me useless during the day. I’ve gotten better since Tai Shan at the D.C. Zoo, but I still find the web stream of these cuddly goofballs hard to resist. It’s why my colleagues have dubbed it my panda porn. 

But I really hope the zoo comes up with a more creative name for this one. The last two were Mei Lan and Xi Lan. Yeah, yeah, Lan means Atlanta and these are Atlanta pandas… I get it. But let’s expand our horizons with this one, shall we? There’s a great big world beyond Atlanta. And I’m guessing that this Missouri girl loves your pandas every bit as much as your Atlanta natives.
