Well, Lookie There!

If you know me well enough or have read this blog for any length of time, you probably aren’t surprised to learn that I’m easily distracted when I’m driving. I’m not reckless or unsafe or anything, but my neck is always swiveling in an effort to take everything in. It’s what I love about driving. There’s a stretch of road on my drive to work that is particularly distracting — the area with the horse farm and the field with my little burro friends. And across the street from them is the house with the two inseparable yellow labrador retrievers. And so on. Because this area is familiar and a favorite, I don’t miss much. Or at least that’s what I thought. Today I found out from my super-cool colleague Chris, who also takes this route, that I’ve been missing this Frankenstein tucked in a funky, gnarly tree right in front of the horse farm fence. And I’ve gotta tell ya, had Chris not mentioned it, I don’t think I ever would’ve noticed it. It’s really subtle. The photo is deceiving because I got out of the car and went up to it — so it looks more obvious than it really is. From the road…. well, you’ve gotta have a good eye to spot this guy. Thanks, Chris!
