Zum Wohl!

Guten Tag from Oktoberfest! A lovely October Saturday brought a train ride along the riverfront to Hermann, lots of wine, and fun local flavor. First stop: Oak Glenn Vineyards and Winery. What a view.

Such a quaint little town. So much character. Believe it or not, this garden was in an alley.
Didn’t see a lot of locals, but this little girl represented them well. She was a hoot.
This kindly gentleman was tending to his horses at the White House Hotel downtown. What a great face. He, like the rest of the hotel staff, was dressed in period costumes. They offer some kind of haunted tour after dark. After Lemp Mansion, however, I don’t need more haunted hotels.
What a fun tradition! And some of the older folks take it very seriously based on their polka dancing at Stone Hill Winery. It wasn’t unusual to see a gentleman sporting German Bundhosen and looking like a yodeler or a woman wearing a dirndl dress and looking like Heidi. Let’s just say that the men were able to pull off the look better than some of the women. But the spirit was there.

A great day ended in time for me to get home and see the end of the Mizzou game! An amazing win over Oklahoma that more than made up for some of the drunken idiots on the train ride home. πŸ™‚
M-I-Z-Z-O-U!
