Day One of the US Open is under way and I’m feeling absolutely giddy. Love these spots, love this tournament. Got both McEnroe brothers commentating during our first prime time television session and Federer has already hit a nasty tweener for a winner (SportsCenter Top 10 Plays, are you listening?). I mean, come on. Does it get any better than this? I might as well give up on getting anything done for the next two weeks. Life in our house always comes to a virtual standstill when the Open is on. It’s kind of wild this year, however, because a kid that the boys know got a wild card and is playing. He’s the same age as Drew. Also, a guy that the boys used to play with when we first moved here (older, more of a mentor) made it through the first round of the qualifiers. But this guy is more than a ridiculously accomplished tennis player. He’s accomplished in every way. Check out this video. We’re so proud of him.
