Magical and so unexpected

These wonderful little leaf skeletons are the result of a quick walk to take out the trash. Every now and then, when I see skeleton leaves in tact, I’ll pick them up for my boss. She’s an amazing mixed media artist who can make magic out of found objects. But these leaves are somewhat rare and are generally solitary. Tonight, I found dozens of them clustered together in all different sizes and colors. When I put them outside on my glass patio table to take a few photos of them, I experienced some magic of my own — and it was a total accident. Between the last bit of light from the late afternoon sun, the reflections off of the glass and these perfect little leaves, these photos became these beautiful little compositions that I would never have imagined.
