In the realm of useless trivia, did you know that the word “news” is actually an acronym standing for the four cardinal compass points — north, east, west and south. How cool is that? Thank you, Twitter.

I’ve retreated to the computer to check out the news and to, well, escape NCAA basketball. And it has nothing to do with my busted bracket. That was expected. No, this has to do with the fact that, while discussing the Kansas State/Xavier game with the boys, I actually used the expression “drained a three pointer.” Really, that just can’t happen.

One more: the word “queue” is the only word in the English language that is pronounced the same when the last four letters are removed. (Is it still a word with four letters removed??)
