Tuesday

It’s probably time to let the birthday tulips go. But they look pretty neat in an Addams Family sort of way. So I’m hanging on to them just a little while longer.
This weekend, I inexplicably picked up a yoga magazine at the airport. I still haven’t figured out what prompted the purchase. I don’t do yoga. Never have. Don’t know anyone who does. One feature included an interview with Sting and his wife, both avid yoga…ers? (See? I don’t even know what you call them!) But I liked them very much. And I was reminded how much I used to listen to Sting’s music. So when I got home, I asked Tanner (who knows more about 80’s music than most of my generation, including me) if he knew if Sting was on tour. Tanner said that yes, he’s touring, but no, he’s not coming here. Okay. That’s that.
Guess who today announced a new June tour date here in town? You guessed it.
I don’t know what any of it means, but I thought it was weird. Looks like we’ll be going back to Verizon this summer.

You do know someone who does yoga! I have done it off and on in the past but have been going regularly every week to a two hour class since August. My class though is gentle yoga and it is anything but rigorous. Oh and I saw Sting a few years ago in Columbia. Great concert!

  2. Amy! You're a yoga-er?! I didn't know that! I thought you did pilates and Joe did Tai Chi! Please tell me: is yoga is hard as it looks? That was one of the few magazines I've read cover to cover (and not just because I had the time). By the end, I was intrigued, but totally intimidated. I love the spirit of it, I didn't think there was any way I could do it physically. Which further added to the mystery of why I was drawn to the magazine to begin with.

I did do pilates twice a week for the last year I was in Columbia but have found a yoga class here that I really like in the hopes of strengthening my back and feeling better. I have gone to some yoga classes before that was VERY strenuous and I was a panting, sweaty mess by the end and felt like I was going to die. Now with my back/neck issues I needed to do something less strenuous and my class is called "Yoga for Healing." I love it. I think the key is to find something gentle and at the right level. My class is a wide variety of ladies. One is younger than me and the ages rage up to the 70s. So I would look into a gentle yoga class to get started and then you can advance when you feel comfortable.
